A short adventure for four to six 1st-level characters!
Knife in the Crowd takes place in a busy marketplace where the players happen to be nearby when a well-liked local official is suddenly attacked by a coordinated group of disguised bandits. The assault is deliberate, and the attackers are interested in something the official carries rather than indiscriminate violence.
Circumstances throw the players together, and they must decide whether to intervene, protect the official, and stop the attackers before they escape. Once the fighting ends, the town guard arrives to secure the marketplace and question those involved, giving the players a natural reason to remain together while the mystery behind the attack begins to unfold.
